250 years ago, Americans confronted tyranny and set the world on a better path. Tyranny is once again on the rise in the U.S. and around the world. It’s time for us to reclaim the ideals that so many generations of Americans have fought for.
Today, the federal government is acting in ways that are directly threatening democracy and freedom in the U.S. and around the world:
- The President is abusing his power to reward his political allies and punish his political opponents. This is weakening free speech and the rule of law, and creating a culture of corruption.
- Congress is allowing the President to put unqualified people in charge of the most important government jobs. Countless years of experience and expertise have been lost as Americans who’ve committed their lives to serving the country are being replaced by inexperienced, underqualified people who are loyal to the President’s narrow and selfish interests. This makes America less safe and less secure.
- Government leaders are putting the President’s cruel, erratic, and corrupt demands before the Constitution and the American people.
- The “Department of Government Efficiency” is recklessly cutting government jobs and spending without understanding the consequences of their actions. They accidentally fired experts responsible for making and disarming nuclear bombs, and then scrambled to try hiring them back. They’re hiding what they’re doing and lying about how much money they’ve saved.
- The President and his allies regularly refer to their political opponents and the news media as “the enemy of the people” and “the enemy within.” This is an attack on the First Amendment and invites vigilante violence from his supporters.
- The President let people who committed violence for him off the hook, especially those who believed his lies about the 2020 election. At the same time, the President has given no legitimate reason for stripping security protections from his critics and political opponents who’ve been threatened with political violence, putting those individuals and their families at grave risk.
- The President is hurting America’s reputation by acting like dictators, talking about taking over other countries and displacing populations, and encouraging governments that are hostile to America’s peace and prosperity.
- The President is damaging our relationships with allies and letting America’s role as the leader of the free world slip away. His belligerence and recklessness is weakening the alliances that have helped keep peace since World War II.
